Numpty Question: How Do I Light A Fag?

OK, I don't smoke but would like to plug stuff in to the fag lighter in the ash-tray bit.

 

It seems to be stuck in - I can't either pull it out or pop it out by heating it up. In fact I'm not sure it's actually a fag lighter at all (maybe a blank). It does have a button that depresses but it doesn't stay down.

 

Does any of that make sense? Hope so - I'm getting a bit bored of keeping the SatNav on charge in the boot and running it off battery when we need it up front. Also it's quite difficult to fish it out of the boot when you're steaming down the M6 alone!

Slightly OT, but is it normal for the cig lighter to give power even if the car is switched off (and locked) ?

...im not sure - but i think its cuts off or times out - if the battery goes below a certain value - not sure - just dont leave anything plugged in :16:

my mk1 has a voltge drop cut out on the rear power sockets, i presume they'd have carried this over to the mk11 also.

 

referring back to OPs question, have a look in the handbook for the correct fuse for the front power socket, chances are it's blown.
